Join me in the WordPress Playground where you can learn the basics about using WordPress in a
non-tech way. Your play-site will be in a private Playground, where you can experiment, play, and not worry about breaking anything in what will be your WordPress sandbox.
This is a half- day workshop, approximately 3.5 – 4 hours long with scheduled breaks or a evening session split over 2 evenings with 1 shorter break. The times are approx. and I will stay as long as people have questions.
My goal is to make this as simple, and easy for the non-tech person to understand. I teach in plain language, no geek speak..
And don’t worry, I take the tech out of the picture by doing all that stuff for you by setting up a secure WordPress site in a private area for you. The rest is super easy and no more technical than creating and sending an email.
This is a live online workshop. I believe this is a more effective way to teach since everyone has a front-row seat and can see what I am doing on their computer. You also have the advantage of being able to follow along and copy each step I do on your own computer as I am doing it. It will be recorded, so you can always go back and re-watch later- another thing you cannot do as easily with an in-person workshop.

How to login and how to get to the dashboard of your site. I will send you the login details of your site.- Dashboard basic overview of what’s where and general settings.
- General settings They have already been done for you, but you should know where they are and know how to change them if you wish.
- Themes & Updates- finding and adding new themes, updating your site with only a click of a button.
- Custom Menu Section, Parent and Child Pages- How to set up a custom menu, and parent and child pages explained.
- How to create and publish a new Post or Page
- Adding keywords (tags) and categories – Adding a little SEO to your site.
- Adding images as well as an intro about photo galleries and slideshows.
- Backups and restore How backing up your site can save you HUNDREDS of dollars and an easy set & forget way to do it. This is another done-for-you feature that I will do when setting up your site, but you really need to know about this. And it’s a plugin that does all the work for you.
